Modelling a vehicle-sharing station as a dual waiting system: stochastic framework and stationary analysis
نویسنده
چکیده
A waiting system with two kinds of resources, say the vehicles and the docks in a vehiclesharing service, is considered. Two arrival flows of customers are assumed, access customers who require a vehicle versus egress customers that bring back their vehicle and require a dock at the station. The total number of docks sets a limit capacity for the service. A stochastic, markovian, state-transition model is defined, which constitutes a bi-sided capacitated queuing system. The balance equations are stated and solved, yielding a stationary distribution under two conditions of compatibility. Indicators of service quality and system performance are defined and formulated under steady state.

Analysis of a Single Server Queue with Working Vacation and Vacation Interruption
In this paper, an M/M/1 queue with working vacation and vacation interruption is investigated. The server is supposed to take a working vacation whenever the system becomes empty and if there are at least N customers waiting in the system at a service completion instant, vacation interruption happens and the server resumes a normal working period. A matrix geometric approach is employed to obta...
متن کاملTraffic equilibrium between transit lines serviced by capacitated vehicles: a route choice model with passenger waiting on platform
A theory is provided for the problem of passenger waiting and route choice at a transit station where a set of lines serviced by vehicles of limited capacity are available to reach a given destination. It is assumed that the platform layout involves one boarding zone only. The theory addresses waiting discipline – either priority queuing or mingled waiting – and choice behaviour – either selfis...
متن کاملVehicle Sharing System Pricing Regulation: Transit Optimization of Intractable Queuing Network
This paper presents polynomially solvable stochastic models to tackle the Vehicle Sharing System (VSS) pricing problem. We focus on optimizing the average number of trips sold with static demands, infinite station capacities and null transportation times. The stochastic VSS pricing problem is modeled as a closed queuing network with infinite buffers and continuous controls on transition rates f...
متن کاملSecond Moment of Queue Size with Stationary Arrival Processes and Arbitrary Queue Discipline
In this paper we consider a queuing system in which the service times of customers are independent and identically distributed random variables, the arrival process is stationary and has the property of orderliness, and the queue discipline is arbitrary. For this queuing system we obtain the steady state second moment of the queue size in terms of the stationary waiting time distribution of a s...

Mathematical modeling of supply chain operations has proven to be one of the most complex tasks in the field of operations management and operations research. Despite the abundance of several modeling proposals in the literature; for vast majority of them, no effective universal application is conceived. This issue renders the proposed mathematical models inapplicable due largely to the fact th...
